MARK RITCHIE WRITES FOR
"THE STAGE"

Vocalist Sonia Selbie apparently takes great time
and trouble with her presentation skills and
stagewear. Petula Clarke's Downtown and a great
stab at I Dreamed a Dream were on offer here from
this genuinely gifted vocal artist.
Selbie has to be
a name to remember.
Snow White:  (Broadway Theatre, Barking)

There is a strong Australian influence at Barking this year, where
'Home and Away' stars Ray Meagher and Justine Clarke (Alf and
Roo) are drawing the crowds. Any thoughts that they might just
play small parts and not contribute very much are soon dispelled.
Ray Meagher, who I understand is playing his first stage show for
ten years, is a cheerful Muddles and soon makes himself a
favourite with children and adults alike. He appears frequently on
his own and in comedy routines with Dame Doughnut (Effie Star).
Justine Clarke makes an attractive Snow White and shows that
she is a highly capable actress with a tuneful voice. Even joining
ray Meagher in the duet signature tune from 'Home and Away'.
Claire Reynolds is a most impessive wicked Queen Esmerelda,
definately not a lady to tangle with, and Jason, her aide, is well
played by Vincent Allen. Peter Treganna makes a handsome
Prince Danillo and
Sonia Selbie impesses as Fairy
Kindheart.
The seven dwarfs are led by Pat Mullins, dancing
is from the Michelle Murray Dancers and the East London
Juveniles, and the excellent musical backing is from the Montrose
trio.
